The Accounts Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of day-to-day financial and payroll transactions, supporting the finance function through strong transactional discipline, compliant payroll processing, and reliable financial records. This role reports to the Financial Controller
/ Accountants and works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations.
What You'll Do
You'll be the kind of person who:
- Processes and posts supplier invoices and manages end-to-end accounts payable transactions
- Prepares and issues customer invoices and supports accounts receivable processes
- Processes end-to-end payroll in accordance with relevant awards, employment agreements, and statutory requirements (PAYG, superannuation, etc.)
- Processes employee expense reimbursements in line with company policies
- Posts, reviews, and reconciles corporate credit card transactions
- Processes daily bank transactions and performs regular bank reconciliations
- Maintains supplier, customer, and employee master data within finance and payroll systems
- Administers the timesheet system, including setup, maintenance, and user support
- Assists with month-end close activities, including reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Supports financial and management reporting through accurate data preparation
- Maintains organised financial and payroll records and supports audit and compliance requests
Work Involves
- Moderate transactional processing across finance and payroll with a strong focus on accuracy and confidentiality
- Regular interaction with internal staff regarding invoices, expenses, timesheets, and payroll queries
- Use of accounting, payroll, banking, expense management, and timesheet systems
- Strict adherence to internal controls, payroll legislation, policies, and documented procedures
- Working to recurring deadlines, particularly around payroll cycles and month-end close
Requirements
What You Bring
We're looking for someone who:
- 3+ years' experience in an Accounts Officer, Payroll Officer, or similar transactional finance role
- Hands-on experience processing payroll end-to-end
- Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
- Working knowledge of payroll legislation, superannuation, and PAYG requirements
- Experience using accounting and payroll systems such as MYOB AccountRight, Xero, KeyPay, NetSuite, or similar (Experience with MYOB AccountRight is a nice-to-have)
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of data accuracy
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial and payroll data
- Experience with multiple entities in a group would be an added advantage
